With a blog named “Zombie Apocalypse” it’s probably strange that I haven’t actually written much about about zombies. I recently played a couple zombie themed games, more by coincidence than design, which seemed to capture what I was looking for.

Very slowly, some of the hit games that have been released for the iPhone are finding their way to Android phones. Recently, an iPhone game and video game industry darling, Game Dev Story, was made available in the Android App Market and I hungrily leapt to purchase it after long seeing it touted about through Twitter.

I had just about completely forgotten about the indie adventure game The Dream Machine by Cockroach, Inc. Recently, I learned from The Dream Machine’s development blog feed that part two of the game was about to be released and that the entire series could be preordered.

It didn’t take much to convince me to pick up the recent PC release of the indie side-scrolling real time strategy game Swords and Soldiers by Ronimo Games. The game is is loud, brash, and funny.

Drunken Delusions

Not too long ago I started playing the indie developed adventure game Snakes of Avalon but initially didn’t get very far. The game was over for me when, after a few minutes in, the main character had a dialogue with a poster on the wall of a bar. Later, feeling guilty about my aborted session with Snakes of Avalon, I gave the game another shot and powered through the first bit of it, resigned to the fact that things were going to get weird and that perhaps I’d find meaning from it all later.
